How Important Is Swahili Language In African Countries ?

Swahili is a Bantu language and the first language of the Swahili people which is spoken by more than 100 million people around the world. It is official language of Tanzania and Kenya and is widely spoken in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Comoros Islands, Burundi, Rwanda, Northern Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. This language has its root in African mainland. Swahili is the most widely spoken language of eastern Africa.

It is one of the languages that has featured in some world radio stations such as the BBC, Radio Cairo (Egypt), the VOA (U.S.A.), Radio Deutschewelle (Germany), Radio Moscow International (Russia), Radio Japan International, Radio China International, Radio Sudan, and Radio South Africa. The language is also used in art world like in songs, theatres, movies and television programs. The language is so popular that even Michael Jackson’s song “Liberian girl” had some Swahili phrases in it.
